Unbox and Inspect
Carefully unbox your Ledger device and verify that all security seals are intact. Your package should include:
- Ledger hardware wallet
- USB cable
- Recovery sheet
- Getting started guide
Security Check: Ensure the device hasn't been tampered with. If any seals are broken, contact Ledger support immediately.

Download Ledger Live
Visit the official Ledger website and download Ledger Live, the companion application for your device:
- Go to Ledger.com
- Navigate to the "Downloads" section
- Select the version for your operating system
- Install the application following the on-screen instructions

Initialize Your Device
Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the provided USB cable:
- Follow the on-screen instructions on your device
- Choose to set up as a new device
- Your device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase
Critical: Write down your recovery phrase on the provided sheet and store it securely. Never share it with anyone or store it digitally.

Set Up PIN Code
Create a secure PIN code to protect access to your device:
- Choose a PIN between 4-8 digits
- Confirm your PIN by entering it again
- Remember this PIN as you'll need it every time you use your device

Install Applications
Use Ledger Live to install applications for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage:
- Open Ledger Live and connect your device
- Go to the "Manager" tab
- Browse and install applications like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.
- Follow any additional setup instructions

Create Accounts
Add cryptocurrency accounts in Ledger Live to start managing your assets:
- Navigate to the "Accounts" tab
- Click "Add account"
- Select the cryptocurrency
- Follow the verification process
- Your account is now ready to receive funds
